Book Group's 1st Meeting of the Year

Book group had it's kick off for the year on February 23rd. Everyone brought their favorite books to share with some good titles popping up such as "Goose Girl" by Shannon Hale, "Dearest Friend: A Life of Abigail Adams" by Lynne Withey, "The Sea of Monsters" by Rick Riordan, "Yearning for the Living God: Reflections from the Life of F. Enzio Busche" by F. Enzio Busche, and "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Bronte.
After some group discussion the book chosen for this month is "Among the Hidden" by Margaret Peterson Haddix.
Book Summary from commonsensemedia.com:

"In the not-so-distant future, overpopulation has led to draconian laws limiting families to no more than two children, and Population Police ruthlessly enforce the law. Thus Luke, his family's third child, has lived his entire life in hiding, and now that a new development is being built on the edge of his family's land, he can't even go into the yard anymore, nor can he go into rooms with windows, as the neighbors grow suspicious if the shades are pulled all the time.

This miserable, isolated existence is interrupted when he discovers another shadow child living in a nearby house, and risks his and his family's lives to meet her."

The book can be found online by searching "Among the Hidden" at http://books.google.com/or you can get a copy by talking to Brienne Frank.

Keep your ears open for announcements about the meeting this month and come join the rest of the book group!
