“The question isn’t: How did this happen, but… What do I need to learn from this situation”. This is Sue Mitchell’s motto. Sue grew up in SLC and graduated from the U of U with a Bachelors of Education and an MSW. She then moved to CA and worked in the Social Services Child Welfare Department. She learned valuable life lessons as she served the foster children of Santa Clara County.
While working in CA, she met her husband at a Stanford Singles ward. After a few dates, she felt inspired that Carl would be her man. She met with her then bishop, Henry B Eyring, to discuss her feelings and he said yes, she had felt the prompting of the spirit. Good thing she had verbal confirmation because it took 5 years for Carl to become hers. They raised their 2 boys and 2 girls in CA and she served on the school board for 12 years. When they retired Sue and Carl decided to move closer to their children in Utah.
Sue keeps busy with her 10 grandkids and reading.
